The Templeton Philharmonic

Gwynne Phillips and Briana Templeton grew up in small towns in Ontario, Canada. They met while they studied Drama at the University of Toronto. Since then, they have picked up several awards for their live comedy shows including “Outstanding Sketch Performance” at the first annual My Theatre Awards, “SteamWhistle Producer’s Pick” at Toronto Sketchfest, and “Best Comedy Duo” at the L.A. Comedy Festival.

The pair have worked as contributing writers for CBC Radio-Canada's “The Irrelevant Show”, and co-star in the web series “Womanish” on CBC Comedy. Last fall, they performed at Massey Hall's “Generator” - an evening that celebrated innovations in art and science and was hosted by astronaut Colonel Chris Hadfield.

They have also created critically acclaimed web shorts, and immersive performances - all of which have a dark and silly comedic bent. The pair specialize in site-specific period pieces and co-wrote and produced the plays “Sockdolager” (set in the 1920’s and staged at Toronto’s oldest home), and “An Evening In July” (set in the 1970’s and loosely inspired by the documentary “Grey Gardens”).
