Danny McBride

Danny McBride has become a multi-hyphenate in the truest sense of the word and is
generating a full plate of varied and interesting projects. His latest is the HBO comedy series,
Vice Principals, which he co-created and wrote with Jody Hill. Told over the course of one
school year over two seasons, Vice Principals premiered in July 2016 and recently concluded the
second last November 12 th , 2017. Proclaimed by Rolling Stone as “The Summer’s best new
comedy” and winner of the Audience Award at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival, the show also
marked McBride’s directorial debut as he directed multiple episodes, adding another skill to his
growing repertoire.

Vice Principals is McBride’s second HBO comedy series, the first being Eastbound and
Down, which he also co-created, wrote, and produced with Jody Hill. McBride portrayed Kenny
Powers in the series, a vulgar, loud-mouthed ex-professional baseball player fighting his way
back to the major leagues. Since premiering on the network in February 2010, the show has
gained an enormous cult following and aired for four successful seasons.

On the film side, McBride recently starred alongside Michael Fassbender and Katherine
Waterson in Alien: Covenant. Directed by Ridley Scott, the film was released worldwide last
May. In a definite non-comedic role, McBride plays the pilot of the spaceship Covenant, a
colonization ship, searching for a planet where life may start anew.

Next up for McBride is the Netflix film The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter, which he
co-wrote and produced with Jody Hill under their Rough House Pictures banner, the production
company they co-founded with director David Gordon Green. The three all met at the prestigious
North Carolina School of the Arts and have been collaborators for over 20 years.   It was from
there that their first collaboration, the cult classic, The Foot Fist Way, made its way to Sundance
and from there, it exploded on the film comedy world.

Rough House also recently partnered up with famed horror producer Jason Blum
(Blumhouse Pictures) on the forthcoming Halloween reboot. Currently targeted for release in
October 2018, McBride will write the screenplay and Gordon Green will direct.
McBride’s other film credits include This Is The End, Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express
and Sausage Party.
