Illogical Contraption

Hosts: Cory Sklar, Shelby Cobras
Co-Hosts: Aloysius Cummings, Erik Thybony, Sara Murphy, Aesop Dekker
House Band: Steve Peacock (Pale Chalice), Zack Farwell (Grayceon, Walken), Shelby Lermo (Vastum)
What would happen if Cannibal Corpse and Coast 2 Coast AM made sweet, sweet love? And what if the resulting fetus were nursed to maturity by a tag team comprised of Eric Andre and the bassline from 'Seinfeld'? The outcome, of course, would surely be a hideously-mangled shoggoth of comedic psychedelia resembling the entity known as ILLOGICAL CONTRAPTION.
Beginning as a music blog in December 2008, IllCon has grown and mutated over the years, first morphing into a live radio show/podcast, but sprouting slippery tentacles into the realms of video, stage, merchandising, and street pranksterism as well. Eventually birthing two spin-off shows (IllCon: Nights After Dark and Death Metal Dads, respectively), hosts Cory, Shelby, Erik, Al, and Sara have seen a parade of diverse guests pass through their wriggling airwaves: comedians like Dave Attel, Gilbert Gottfried, Greg Proops, and Brian Posehn, musicians such as Oderus Urungus from GWAR and Genesis P. Orridge from Psychic TV--even fringe weirdos like Longmont Potion Castle, Peaches Christ, and... Alex Trebek?
It's been a strange and ultimately goofy upbringing, but the Illcon Toddler keeps lumbering forward, leaving a tepid miasma of half-baked comedy, conspiracy theory, heavy metal, pop culture, and general stupidity in its wake. 2018 will mark Illogical Contraption third appearance at SF Sketchfest, and their first within the confines of the historic Cafe du Nord. Theirs is a show not to be missed, as to describe it with words would be an impossible task--even for a madman.

Stuff You Should Know (SOLD OUT)
Stuff You Should Know is the award-winning podcast hosted by Chuck Bryant and Josh Clark and produced by the venerable website HowStuffWorks. Twice weekly since 2008, Stuff You Should Know has released a mind-addling array of episodes, cracking open the mechanics, history and cultural and scientific impact of topics like: Ouija boards, asteroid mining, termites, the use of MDMA to treat mental illness, the game of horseshoes, gender reassignment surgery, what would happen if the Earth stopped spinning, Barbie(r) dolls, peak oil, the effects of going without sleep, bioluminescence, disco, icebergs, the fat tax and so on and so on, totaling nearly 700 episodes and adding two more every Tuesday and Thursday.Over the years, Stuff You Should Know has grown beyond the podcast to include video series like Don't Be Dumb; a pretty good social media presence on Facebook and Twitter where Josh and Chuck chat with their fans, field suggestions and are told what they got wrong in any given episode; and a website, Josh and Chuck's home on the web, StuffYouShouldKnow.com, where they like to share examples of their interests in photos of abandoned places, old Halloween costumes, terrible ideas in history, and other neat stuff. They are also beginning work on a Stuff You Should Know book, which they intend to complete and have published before the end of the decade, they hope. They also played themselves in a short lived but much loved scripted TV show on Science channel.Chuck and Josh live in Atlanta, though not together; instead with their wives, Emilie (Chuck) and Umi (Josh). When they aren't working - but really, in this day and age, when is anyone not working, you know? - Chuck plays in his old man band, as he's a bit of an amateur guitarist, and Josh likes to find and try new cocktail recipes, as he's a bit of an amateur mixologist. $27.50

Greatest Generation & Friendly Fire Podcast Super Show
It's a double dip of two great podcasts for the price of one!
The Greatest Generation:
The Greatest Generation is a comedy podcast about Star Trek: The Next Generation, beloved by everyone from people who've never seen an episode, to complete dorkazoids who are fluent in Klingon. Benjamin Ahr Harrison and Adam Pranica tell you what's great, what's bad, and what's hilarious about the show they grew up loving, and still do. It's a little bit nerdy, a lot filthy, and exposes some of Adam and Ben's most embarrassing stories from their dorky childhoods.
Friendly Fire:
What happens when a history buff and two film nerds watch a war film once a week? John Roderick, Adam Pranica and Benjamin Ahr Harrison are exploring titles from the entire history of cinema about every war, big and bigger. They discuss filmmaking, geopolitical history, nerd out about uniforms and equipment, and crack wise the entire time. To the victor go the spoiler alerts! $25
